I (don't) use Arch, btw
I have a confession. "I use Arch, btw" enjoyer for quite a few years. But. That might have just changed…
Before I get cancelled, hear me out. I've used Linux based OS's since Ubuntu 8.04 (not 18, 8) and went full Linux (no windows on personal machines) in about 2012. I also moved to using Arch around this time.
Benefits Of Arch Linux
Arch is amazing if you always want the latest features in every package installed, and has become mostly rock solid stable in the last few years. However I am not great at just waiting until the weekend for updates, and there is usually 100s of MB waiting even if I check every other day… That's ok but it gets a bit tiring and also a bit wearing on the old storage.
Distro Hopping…
Don't get me wrong, I love Arch and I have tried other distros. Ubuntu/Debian based mainly, except for 6 months with Gentoo Linux which I loved. It was such a pain to compile everything every time I needed a new package, or when there were updates. Even had a go with Slackware back in v13 days! I always came back to Arch Linux, usually because of a new feature in one of the programs I use, or because of the ease of installing (and huge amount of) packages in the official repos and the AUR.
New Forever Distro?
However, all those upgrades and the little voice always saying "why do I need those new features???" caused me to finally give in and install Fedora. Oh my… Stability, fairly new packages. Clean… comfy. Let's see how this goes, but I might just be saying "I use Fedora, btw" in 6 months time 😅
